Pesquisadores da Universidade do Novo M\u00e9xico conduziram an\u00e1lises1 em 91 amostras cerebrais e descobriram concentra\u00e7\u00f5es de micropl\u00e1sticos 10 a 20 vezes maiores do que em outros \u00f3rg\u00e3os vitais como f\u00edgado e rins. Estudos estimam que uma pessoa consome aproximadamente cinco gramas de micropl\u00e1sticos por semana, o equivalente a um cart\u00e3o de cr\u00e9dito. Essas part\u00edculas, presentes em alimentos, \u00e1gua e at\u00e9 no ar, conseguem atravessar a barreira intestinal e atingir a corrente sangu\u00ednea. De l\u00e1, podem ser transportadas para v\u00e1rios \u00f3rg\u00e3os, incluindo o c\u00e9rebro. A barreira hematoencef\u00e1lica, que normalmente protege o c\u00e9rebro de subst\u00e2ncias nocivas, n\u00e3o parece ser um obst\u00e1culo absoluto para os micropl\u00e1sticos. Estudos com camundongos j\u00e1 associaram a exposi\u00e7\u00e3o a micropl\u00e1sticos a um decl\u00ednio cognitivo semelhante \u00e0 dem\u00eancia2. Em humanos, os pesquisadores est\u00e3o preocupados com poss\u00edveis conex\u00f5es entre a presen\u00e7a desses poluentes e doen\u00e7as neurodegenerativas, como o Alzheimer3.<br \/>Al\u00e9m disso, estudos preliminares indicam que a exposi\u00e7\u00e3o prolongada a micropl\u00e1sticos pode resultar em altera\u00e7\u00f5es metab\u00f3licas graves. A produ\u00e7\u00e3o de pl\u00e1sticos continua a aumentar, o que agrava o problema, j\u00e1 que a decomposi\u00e7\u00e3o do pl\u00e1stico resulta na forma\u00e7\u00e3o dessas part\u00edculas microsc\u00f3picas. \u00c9 urgente que a\u00e7\u00f5es sejam tomadas para mitigar a exposi\u00e7\u00e3o humana aos micropl\u00e1sticos e investigar mais profundamente os seus efeitos na sa\u00fade.<\/span><\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #0d0d0d; font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #0d0d0d; font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\">A pesquisa sobre micropl\u00e1sticos ainda est\u00e1 em fase inicial, com grande parte dos estudos focados em ambientes controlados ou em modelos animais.
